Want to play for 4 hours tonight, and 30 minutes tomorrow ? No problem. Want to stop here for 5 minutes and look at the scenery ? You can absolutely do that. Like with books, what I absolutely love about video games compared to movies, is that they can create a story of the length they choose (doesn't have to be 2 hours long, it can be 30 minutes long, it can be 20 hours long, etc.).Īnd most importantly (not even mentioning the fact that you "incarnate" a character better by controlling his movements), you can play it at the pace that you choose. Because to me it's a different experience. If the game would lose nothing becoming a movie I don't see why it wouldn't be a movie. There is very limited clue gathering, yes (less and less as the series goes on). Maybe I'm wrong but I feel like everyone that prefers Heavy Rain to Beyond Two Souls hasn't played Heavy Rain in a really long time. It has none of the good things about Heavy Rain either, but I'll trade those unique features for a story that makes sense any day. The acting is good, it plays much better, and the story at least makes sense. The only redeeming factor in that game is that a lot of your choices actually matter and that characters can die permanently if you fuck up QTEs.īeyond Two Souls, on the other hand, while it's no masterpiece, has none of the major issues Heavy Rain has. The game also plays terribly and the voice-acting sucks. I honestly don't know how something so dumb made it into the finished game. There's nothing much to say about Madison's plotline other than the 'she's a reporter' plot twist is extremely trivial and silly. I also can't help but be annoyed at how convenient it was that all the victims he contacted coincidentally needed to be saved in some way. ![]() Why would he contact his past victims so long after their kid's deaths? Why would he just leave people with all kinds of evidence (like the convenience store guy) when they could have just gone to the police after their kids died? The logical thing to do would be talking to these people right after the crime, not so long after it. Scott Shelby's plotline is also pretty nonsensical. The sex scene in this game is the most out of place sex scene in the fucking history of story-telling. ![]() The worst part by far though is his shoehorned romance with Madison. His blackouts are never explained in-game, and his whole plot falls apart when the police decides he is the Origami Killer with no evidence other than 'he had an Origami with him once'. Stuff that's supposed to be dramatic, like Jason's death is just cheapened by how clunky the whole segment feels. Just full of Deus Ex Machinas and plot contrivances.Įthan's plotline is a mess. It might just be me, but the plot to Heavy Rain is just utter garbage. I honestly think Beyond Two Souls is way better than Heavy Rain in every way except choice consequences. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
